Glen's Guiding

Working as a guide is about the best job I can imagine having just at the moment. It gets me outdoors, in touch with people, and in touch with nature. It also keeps me fit! It's an absolute pleasure to see people develop and grow whilst traveling through Tasmania's amazing environment.

I have a Certificate III in Tour Guiding (Natural & Heritage) plus an additional Cert III in Eco-Adventure Guiding. The skills learnt during these courses are truly amazing. I bring a very high degree of professionalism to my guiding, as you can see from the following comments from colleagues on a recent trip:

"...so after a brief sugar hit and some congratulations to Glen for getting us out of the wilderness we continue along the newly found track.

"NOTE: Glen is a wilderness guide from Tasmania, his nav skills are quite impressive and without him I'd probably still be there :-) I guess it's the training that makes the difference, I've done a fair bit of off-track navigating over the years and never been lost for very long, but I know that I have the "wishful thinking" gene which causes me to decide a gully is the one I'm looking for because I want it to be, regardless of the evidence. Glen looks at the facts and makes decisions accordingly."

This image shows Rob's relief when we finally regained the track!

Rob Gray,  ACT

I'm continually encouraged in my guiding by the wonderful things clients have to say about the way I work, and how profoundly they're impacted by the trips I run. Here are a few candid testimonials just from this year:

"Emma and Glen were so very professional and provided their leadership as if they were one of us seeing everything almost for the first time even though we knew that's far from the case"

Phil, NSW

"Wow!  What a week!  It has had a profound effect on me…  I now have a “burn in the belly” that I haven’t felt for years. Thank you all for sharing this amazing experience with me."

Jackie, Vic.

"I’m still coming down from the trip. It was terrible to fly into Brisbane to a traffic-infested city and a heat wave. The Tarkine is incredible. Michael and I were deeply moved from that trip, and it seemed we weren’t alone."

Ingrid, QLD

I am overwhelmed by the people we met and how in such a short time you can really bond with people from different places in Australia.  I never believed that I could have felt this even though Glen and Christoph did indicate we would become a family…  I am one of the luckiest people alive to have shared the Tarkine trip with you all.

That place was truly magical.  I have been asked by many how the trip was and can only respond with “the most amazing thing I have ever done”.  It was beautiful, comforting, and peaceful; and yet so vulnerable and exposed…

If you're interested in guided activities in Tasmania (a stunningly beautiful place!) then get in touch and we can discuss options. I've worked for a wide range of operators from Sea Kayaking to Snow Trips and lots in between. I currently work for:

And don't forget to ask for Glen as your guide!
