What's New - 45

The Pilbra is a very remote & beautiful location. Karijini National Park is simply stunning! In total we spent 17 days in the area.

By day 6 or so, we had inflated our various water craft (ranging from li-lo's to more traditional boats) and were paddling our way down Joffre Gorge towards Junction Pool with cameras blazing. There can hardly be more stunning country anywhere in the world!

We then drove to the (not quite) abandoned asbestos mining town of Wittonoom where we met a local resident - Peter. Peter's an ex Kiwi, and when I asked if there were many people living in the town he said "Yes, heaps! At least 5, sometimes up to 10 when they get visitors." We pottered around the town, and up the gorge towards the old mine site.
